Abstract

Since the reform of the high school in 2010, few researches are made in France on the impact of rapid prototyping processes on the learning of pupils in technological education. So, with the evolution of the digital manufacturing technologies, we ask the question of the contribution of the 3D printer in classroom. We make the hypothesis that their use by pupils, allows them to build a better interpretation of the task prescribed within the framework of a design activity. From written tracks, graphic intermediaries, and prototypes, produced by pupils, we realize an analysis of activity, allowing the description of the design process operated by pupils. Our study can clear up the way pupils understand and use 3D printer; this understanding can contribute to help the teacher in his follow-up of the learning of pupils.
