ΚΑΘΩΣ – ΟΠΩΣ: Δύο ενδιαφέρουσες περιπτώσεις πολυσημίας και πολυλειτουργικότητας της Νέας Ελληνικής

Περίληψη

In this article the polysemy and multifunctionality of “καθώς-όπως” in modern Greek are tested, with the motive of the questions and the mistakes of foreign students of Modern Greek language (level B’). The questions that arise are the following: What do they have in common and how do they differentiate? On a synchronic level do we have convergence of the two types as concerns their meanings and their functions? Which is the role of their etymological origin? Could the two grammatical forms be considered a result of grammaticalization? The study is focused on a synchronic level, having etymology shed light on their synchronic existence.
