Περίληψη

Since the onset of the Greek crisis, thousands of highly skilled Greeks have chosen or/and have been forced to migrate in search of better career prospects and living standards. The present study examines the ways in which this neomigratory wave, broadly known as ‘brain drain’, is discussed and constructed as discourse in entertainment media/ television advertisements (macro-level). It also focuses on the ways in which selected Greek brain drain migrants construct their identities while participating in social media (micro-level). Drawing on insights from critical discourse studies and discourse-centred online ethnography, our analysis demonstrates that the micro- and the macro-level are intricately intertwined.
