L’éducation à la santé dans l’enseignement supérieur tunisien : vers une approche intégrée et transversale

ROMDHANE ZID, SAMEH HRAIRI

Abstract

In light of contemporary transformations in education systems, health education in Tunisian higher education appears as a strategic yet still underdeveloped issue. This article explores the modes of integration and transversal dynamics of health education within Tunisian universities, through an approach that combines conceptual analysis, national contextualization, and empirical data. Based on a qualitative study conducted across several institutions (interviews with faculty, curriculum analysis, and observation of pedagogical initiatives), the research highlights the contradictions between public health policy orientations and the institutional realities of the university setting. The author proposes an analytical framework that draws on research in health education, critical pedagogy, and community health. By mobilizing international comparisons (Maghreb, Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa), the article emphasizes the value of a situated, integrated, and transdisciplinary approach, capable of strengthening students’ competencies and fostering their civic engagement in health matters. This work thus paves the way for a reconfiguration of university practices in response to current social and health challenges.
