Abstract
The study of the legal documents of the Megarian collection (1688-1835) gives one insights into the material and spiritual culture of Megara that was always a Greek-speaking area, although the surrounding area spoke Arvanitika. These documents provide one with crucial information on several aspects of social life, such as domestic relations, donations, transmission and distribution assets and the religious and economic life of Megara and capture the gradual changes with respect to the changing economic and social conditions of life. They are, therefore, a rare and scarce source for anyone interested in the examination of the history of Megara.
