Democratic Participation and Active Action in the University of the 21st Century The case of service learning (full text in Greek)

Abstract

The current article refers to the values promoted by Higher Education in the 21st century and particularly to the analysis of the concept of citizenship, democratic engagement and active action. More specifically, the first chapter will explore the concept of active citizenship, political involvement and civic engagement in the University. In the second chapter, emphasis will be given to community service (service learning), while at the same time the positive and negative dimensions will be presented, as well as the challenges of participating in community service programs through the analysis of research related to teachers’ and students’ views.
