Abstract

This paper studies aspects of distance education and explores its contribution to educational processes in the evolving period (COVID-19). First, a historical review of the course of distance education is attempted and various implementations of distance education in higher education are presented. Considerations related to the use of distance education during the pandemic and its impact on students and academic staff will emerge. Finally, an introduction to the 'theoretical' debate on the link between distance education and lifelong learning in the context of a globalized society will be provided.
